Ever try to lose a few pounds by skipping a few snacks? We all know in order to lose weight we have to cut our calorie intake or / and start working out. Lets look at the food end of the stick so to speak. Especially food craving.
You go through your day as you usually do and then you run into a time that you usually have a snack. When that time comes your brain starts telling you to go get your snack. At least it is the way it works for me. At work is the worst.
I always walked past the candy machine after lunch and got in the habit of stopping and getting a Milky Way candy bar for my desert. I love those things! This was in my gain the weight habit. After time passed and a lot of snacks and over eating, I was challenged with my appearance in the mirror. Time to do something.
When the craving hits you, one option is where self-discipline comes into play. I would use this primarily at first. Most of the time it would work, some times not. I got in the habit of just watching my mind work after lunch. The craving for the candy bar is very strong.
One day I had to do some thing right after lunch that did not take me by the snack machine. Once I got past the time I usually eat the candy bar, the craving had all but gone away. What was left was very manageable.
I now have a plan to see if this trick works all of the time. And to my surprise, it does for me. I now am in the habit of getting up from lunch and also other old snack times and changing my routine.
Give this a try the next time that you have a food craving and see if it just does get you through the hard part easier than just tiring to tough through it.
This works well with all of the other tricks like, drink water to fill up on or eat a piece of fruit instead of a sugar laden snack, like a Milky Way!
