I am sorry to say that there was a time that I looked down on anyone that was very much over weight. I do not mean twenty or so pounds over weight, but fifty or more to the point of being obese.
In my own quest to lose weight, this time around is proving to be very difficult. It all is because of my mindset. Thinking about this and realizing that we as humans are still programmed by nature to survive. What I mean by this is we eat when we have food in front of us and we eat as though there might not be any food tomorrow.
I think we are still wired this way from times our food sources where not as plentiful. Something else to look at too is the quality of the food that we have around us now. And lets not forget about our physical activity, or the lack of it I should say.
Cheap high calorie food is everywhere today. From the millions of fast food chain restraints, to all of the quick to grab empty calorie snacks in every gas station and grocery store. Most people do not even cook in anymore. If you think popping a frozen dinner into the microwave is cooking in, you are wrong.
Cooking in alone with save you from loading your system up with preservatives that are put in processed foods. When you by a package of hamburger, you get just ground up beef. When you buy fresh or frozen vegetables, not in any sauces, you get just that, vegetables. Go to a restaurant and order the same thing and I will almost guarantee that they will have some kind of flavor enhancer in them. The same with any packaged processed food bought in the grocery store. MSG’s and its cousins are killers.
My own experience with my weight loss journey has opened my eyes to the fact that, yes it can be very hard to control what you put in your mouth. As I have said one hundred times, you have to control your mind and not let it control you. One has to work on this most of the time, if not all of the time.
I use to smoke in my earlier days. I smoked for a total of 27 years and smoked just under a pack of cigarettes a day. The same habit that killed my father, even watching him die from it took me another 7 years to quit myself. But once my mind was made up, it was really not that hard to do. So when you get your mind right, you will get your body right too!
So I have to sit back and take a look at the people that are over weight and feel a little sorry for them. We all seem to think that a diet is what is needed to cure out weight problems, when maybe we need to look at what drives our hunger to stuff ourselves to death. Maybe it just boils down to and head problem rather than a belly problem.
