Starting on June 8th Till June 20th, I did a test with different water to see if it would make any difference as far as a Mung Bean plant went. The waters used, for those who have not been following along, were plain city tap water, distilled water and tap water that were boiled in a microwave.
Pay looking at the above picture, there is really no difference in the plant sizes. Some of the plants have started to fall over because of their height. The one thing is that all the microwaved water plants are still standing, were one of the plants in each other pot has started to lean.
Does this mean the microwaved water is better? I doubt that this is the case. It is just a matter of timing. Besides, I am writing this since I have planted the plants outside. All of them are leaning now. I will see if they all do ok on the same water source. Besides my wife would like the beans to make her own sprouts with.
As for the different waters, it appears that the Mung Beans are not sensitive to the differences in the water for the amount of time that they have been watered. Even with the waters used to germinate the seeds did not really show any difference. One really cannot say if the long term use of the different waters is going to do humans any harm or not.
Microwaved water does no different than the other waters. I do not know if the microwave will do anything to chance the structure of the water. It is known for destroying some of the nutrients in food though. To what degree, I cannot say with certainly, and I will still use mine.
12 days versus years of consumption is a lot different. Plus the human body is just a little more complex than a Mung bean plant. So if I was to make a guess, I will still continue to drink my distilled water. It has fewer chemicals than the tap city water that comes out of my faucet. I do not only distill it but I put in through a Pur water pitcher too. I have gotten to the point that I cannot stand the taste of regular water, city or not.
