Me at 188 pounds
Here June 16, 2009 I have a 44 inch waist around at my navel. Not a very good looking body.
Me again at 188 pounds
I am a 54 year old male. I am around 5 feet and 5 inches tall. At my very heaviest my weight has been 189 pounds. At that weight my Body Mass Index is 31.4. This is obese by this standard. Yes I would have to say I am very much over weight.
I, like a lot of other middle aged people have gone through time eating as we did when we where younger. I did do on several occasions go on diets and lose some of the weight. I even got down to 145 pounds about 11 years ago. I started out at around 170 pounds at that time. Eating a strict diet of very high protein and almost no carbohydrates at all. I even lost the weight in only 30 days. I looked good and felt much better.
After I got down to 145 pounds, I started to eat the way I did before and guess what! Right back to where I started at. I always seemed to settle down around 173 to 176 pounds. Now the last year or so, I have added another 12 pounds.
In my earlier days I always tried to stay in somewhat good shape by weight training. I dislike running. But I do like to walk. Nothing too heavy and not trying to be a body builder, but I do have good genes for it and fill out fairly good.
I would get motivated to buy a diet plan every so often and lose a few pounds. But I have to say most diets will work as long as you stay on them. I am just now realizing that I have to make a life change to my eating habits and get back to working out again. I do not want to end up unhealthy and going out sick and broken down. I am very healthy now, I do not get sick but maybe once every 1 or 2 years. And that is very short lived. So I would like to keep it that way.
The turning point for me I guess was I took a good look in the mirror and was utterly disgusted with what I saw. I finely listened to what my body was trying to tell me. Most important of all, I have a wife and two kids that I love to spend as much time with as I can. So I realized I have to take care of me first. It is time to do some thing about my body!
On June 16 2009 I bought Fit over 40 by Jon Benson. This is not just another diet plan. It is a fitness plan to be used for the rest of your life. And if you think when you get old that you cannot work out any more, just look up Jack LaLanne. At this writing, he is 94 and turns 95 in September and is still going strong.
This course has a lot to offer for the money. At the least go and sign up for the free 10 day fat burning e-course. Fit over 40 course covers every thing from your mind set to what exercises that you can use to start out with. Also loads of nutrition information, with 52 role models aged 40 to into their 70′s to look too for inspiration and examples too follow. Fit over 40 realizes that every one is not the same and has covered that too.
To add more motivation to do this, I am going to blog here on this category. Fill free to post any comments that you will have. I will post every to every other day what I eat and what my workouts are that I do. Like I said earlier in this post, TIME TO CHANGE MY LIFE STILE!
It has been all most 2 weeks since I started and have been giving this post a lot of thought before putting it up. I will be catching the posts up to date here to cover what I have done already.
